We had a chance to talk with Maryland Hip-Hop artist Jhaos.
At what point in your life did you realize you wanted to be involved with music?
In 88', that's when I did my first speed flow, things didn't really get serious until October of 99'.
What was your first interaction with Hip-Hop?
The first interaction with Hip-Hop was in 1985 when I heard the song "You Talk Too Much" by Run Dmc.
What is the local music scene like in Forestville, Maryland?
We had some artists to make it mainstream, but most of us are still grinding, trying to get out of the crab pot. Forestville is a county in P.G. County, it is a part of the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virgina) network.
Do you produce all your own music, or do you use outside producers?
I produce most of my music, but if not I have 7 producers I work with.
You know your way around a recording studio, where did you learn to record and mix and master?
It kind of came naturaly, I have an ear for tones and music.
What equipment and software do you use for production and recording?
Cubase and their prodcuts.
Do you have any shows coming up?
I have a show at the Arts Garage in Philly, on April 5, We also have some tour dates coming up.
Do you write songs for other artists?
I normally don't, I have in the past.
Do you still prefer to sell physical CD's of your music, or do you just sell digital download only?
At this point I like both methods.
What can we expect from you in the near future?
We are working on an overseas tour in the near future in the UK. The album Fluid Movement will be dropping on 7-5-12.
